Church law guarantees active, registered members of the parish, who are in good standing, with the faith and morals

of the Catholic Church, the right to marry in their proper parish church. To be considered an active, registered

member of St. Theresa’s Church for the purpose of marriage, the bride or groom must have been “registered” and

“active” in the parish for at least one year before the scheduled date of the ceremony.

ACTIVE / REGISTERED

1. Someone who has been registered in our parish for one year before the scheduled date of the marriage; and

2. Someone whose contribution file indicates attendance and support; and

3. Regularly giving to our offertory collection or fulfilling a pledge to our parish.

* Children of “registered” and “active” parishioners are considered members for the purpose of marriage and may be

married in the church if they are attending Liturgy on Sundays and Holy Days.

NON-REGISTERED / NON-ACTIVE

1. Indicates someone who has not been registered in our parish for at least one year before the marriage; and

2. Someone whose contribution file does not indicate attendance and support; and

3. Someone who does not regularly give to our offertory collection or fulfill a pledge to the parish

*If even one of the above criteria can be established, then you will be considered a non-registered or non-active

parishioner.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

All Engaged Couples:

1. Baptism Certificate of the Groom

2. Baptism Certificate of the Bride

3. Certificate of Completion of Pre-Marriage (Pre-Cana) Classes

   1. Engaged Couple is to attend Transformed in Love Program hosted by the Archdiocese of Boston

   2. Link: Evangelize - Boston - For Couples - Transformed in Love

   3. At the conclusion of the program, certificate must be presented to Pastor.

   4. Cost: $200 (payable to Archdiocese of Boston by credit card)

4. Completed FOCCUS Interview

   1. Engaged Couple is to individually complete online FOCCUS interview

   2. Couple will then meet with Pastor at least 3 times to discuss results

   3. Cost: $25 (payable to St. Theresa Church)

5. Marriage License (couple must obtain a marriage license from Plymouth County in advance of the wedding, not more than sixty (60) days before the wedding, nor less than 24 hours before the wedding. The marriage license should be given to the priest or deacon no later than at the wedding rehearsal.)

6. Church Offertory

   1. Active/Registered Parishioner: $500 (payable to St. Theresa Church)

   2. Non-Active/Non-Registered Member: $750 (payable to St. Theresa Church)

   3. Priest Stipend: At-Will Offering

 

If either Groom or Bride is not a registered/active member of St. Theresa Church or is unknown to Pastor, these additional documents are required:

1. Two documents attesting that the Groom has never been married before

2. Two documents attesting that the Bride has never been married before
